THIS PAGE IS OUTDATED. Issues are now on the github issue tracker for freebird.

  • Need a way to power down or at least go to sleep. Currently once the batteries are connected, it's running the full power draw.
  • a voltage divider or similar to allow reading the supply voltage would be helpful
  • a right angle header with the pins for a BT2S (+5,GND,TX,RX)
  • the DS3231 is not performing well. Seems to have lost 3 seconds in 24 hours. A short test over 20 minutes or so shows that it's lost 0.8ms, which is around 1ppm. A longer test, about 24 hours, shows the DS3231 losing 1.25 seconds.
  • pretty sure A-/A+ are swapped on the silkscreen. Since the ADC can't handle negative voltages, this is more than an annoyance, though when I hooked it up backwards nothing released the magic smoke.
  • for the BT2S, power control via something like an optomos CPC1002N, with LED current-limiting resistor and a decoupling cap.
  • maybe use the same setup for powering down the squid.
  • the backup battery holder is terrible. Just us a surface mount clip like the rest of the world.
  • the resistor footprint are a little tight for the basic 1/4 watt resistors you get at Radio Shack.
  • replace logo
  • the 5V expansion pad, but just one of them, is too small for a header pin.
