calibration

before using it, the module has to be calibrated, which is easy. you'll need a (ideally precise) voltage source (like o_C) and a patch-cable.

procedure

1. enter calibration mode:

  • make sure no cables are plugged in and turn all the knobs to zero (fully CCW).
  • push down the "learn" button while powering up the module. the LED next to the "learn" button should light up: the module is in calibration mode.

2. calibration:

  • once in calibration mode, again make sure nothing is plugged in and all the knobs are set fully CCW. push the "learn" button to initiate the procedure: the 5 LEDs next to the trigger/gate inputs will light up one by one ( = calibrating the offsets).
  • next, we'll calibrate V/oct (using the voltage source) by feeding the module 1V, then 3V:
    • 1V: push the "learn" button again — only the top-most LED will light up: feed the top-most pitch input (= channel #1) 1.000V.
    • 3V: push the "learn" button again — the three top-most LED will light up: feed the top-most pitch input (= channel #1) 3.000V.
    • (NB: if the V/oct calibration fails (it will fail if it thinks the calibration voltages are off), the "learn" LED will blink (indefinitely). you'll have to reboot and retry).

3. exit + save:

  • push the "learn" button one more time to save + exit.
  • power-cycle the module. done.
