jbena: remove time and place#22
Conversation
New definition: x1 is born to x2; x2 gives birth to x1

This breaks the defined lujvo {terjbe}, but it's probably a good idea. |
|
The lujvo {jbedetri} exists and is a better lujvo for this meaning anyway. |
|
Well I agree, but we can't always use "I have a better way to say it" as an excuse for breaking usage. |
|
I think that this change is very much in tune with the spirit of this revision. |

A half-measure for consideration: Combine jbena3 and jbena4, as they are combined in mokca2. |

I'm in favour of dropping essentially all time and place arguments of a selbri {broda} if it turns out that the time and place of the {lo nu broda} must be those given in those arguments. In other words, {lo jai ca jbena be fai mi} must equal {lo te jbena be fi mi}, and thus we should drop. I can't think of any other gismu where similar sumti should be dropped, but I can think of one in which the drop should not take place: {ckule}. The x2 of ckule should rather be rephrased in the definition to be about what area the school is serving. I've never taken ckule2 to be about the physical location of the school anyhow. {lo jai bu'u ckule} does not necessarily equal {lo se ckule}, and should therefore be preserved. |
