1) Plugins are safe?
Yes! All plugins in the official repository are:
- Open-source (GPLv3 compatible) - you can inspect the source code
- Verified by maintainers before inclusion
2) What's the difference between whatsmycli and neofetch/fastfetch?
- neofetch/fastfetch: Display system information in a formatted, aesthetic way (ASCII art, logos, themed output)
- whatsmycli: Query specific system components on-demand (
whatsmy gpu, whatsmy cpu) without decorative formatting
whatsmycli focuses on querying specific information rather than displaying a full system overview. It's more like a toolkit for accessing individual system components when you need them.
The whatsmycli organization consists of three repositories:
Main CLI application. Loads and executes plugins.
Community plugin repository. Verified binaries for Linux, Windows, and macOS.
Template for creating your own plugins. Write your first plugin in under 10 minutes.
