The tests were running in Travis CI, but seem to not be getting run.
I have moved the test runner from Travis CI to GitHub Actions instead.
Despite this project targeting Python 3.6, we use Python 3.8 to test because older versions aren't supported.
My commit history is messy - use squash merge from the dropdown instead of the regular merge button.
