… provideZonelessChangeDetection() The application runs zoneless: empty build polyfills and provideZonelessChangeDetection() in app.config.ts. The Karma test target keeps zone.js/testing because the spec suite relies on fakeAsync()/tick(), which still require zone.js — Angular's supported pattern for testing a zoneless app.
