GPT Debate Lab is a structured framework designed to improve critical thinking and reasoning by running debates with AI.
The goal is not to "win" arguments, but to stress-test ideas and identify weaknesses in reasoning.
The user debates a topic against GPT using a structured format.
Both sides defend opposing viewpoints and challenge each other's logic.
The framework forces each argument to include:
- a real-world or historical example
- identification of a weakness in the opponent's reasoning
- new reasoning (no repetition)
This prevents shallow arguments and encourages deeper analysis.
Round 1 — Opening Statement
Round 2 — Counter Argument
Round 3 — Counter to Counter
Round 4 — Final Closing Statement
Additional rounds can occur if needed.
Each argument must:
- Use clear language
- Include one historical or real-world example
- Identify a weakness in the opponent's reasoning
- Introduce new reasoning
- Avoid repeating earlier points
Each debate begins with selecting a difficulty level:
Basic
Intermediate
Advanced
No Limits (maximum depth)
Difficulty affects:
- complexity of reasoning
- philosophical depth
- historical references
- logical pressure
Maximum debate duration: 2 hours
After 1 hour, the AI issues a warning suggesting preparation for closing arguments.
This prevents excessive overthinking and keeps discussions focused.
After the debate ends, GPT provides:
- objective analysis of both sides
- strongest arguments from each side
- logical weaknesses
- areas where reasoning could improve
Every session ends with a debate log.
Topic: Date: Rounds: Key Insights: Mistakes in reasoning:
This creates a record of intellectual growth over time.
GPT Debate Lab is meant to:
- train structured reasoning
- challenge assumptions
- improve argument analysis
- develop disciplined thinking
