Command: Dice Rolling

Daniel Grace edited this page Jan 8, 2016 · 4 revisions

There are multiple commands for rolling dice. Rolling dice is 90% of what this bot does in practice.

!2/!2a/!2d

!2 7 Attack the darkness - This command rolls a twenty-sided die, adds 7 to the total, and labels the roll as "Attack the darkness."

!2a 7 Attack the darkness - This command is very much like the above command, but it rolls two twenty-sided dice and uses the highest of the two results. You may recognize this as the "advantage" mechanic from D&D Fifth Edition.

!2d 7 Attack the darkness - This command is very much like the above command, but it rolls two twenty-sided dice and uses the lowest of the two results. You may recognize this as the "disadvantage" mechanic from D&D Fifth Edition.

Roll

!roll 4d6 + 5 - This does what you'd expect. The dice can be any arbitrary size and you can have any number of modifiers. The output shows all dice rolled individually, like so:

4d6 (4, 4, 4, 5) + 5 = 22

!roll 4d6 + 1d20 - The system supports mixing dice types just fine.

!roll 4d6kh3 - Roll four d6 and keep the highest three.

!roll 2d20-H - If you only want to keep one, you can use -H to keep the highest or -L to keep the lowest.

!roll simple 1d20 - Only displays the end result, not the dice used to get there.

!roll plain 1d20 - Only displays the end result, but also does so without any styling.

!r 1d20 - You can use !r instead of roll for any of the above commands.

Rollstats

!rollstats - Rolls 4d6 and keeps the highest three. Does this six times. This is one of the ways to generate a character in D&D Fifth Edition.
