Read the introduction: gov/acc: Accelerating Governance Innovation in Web3

What is gov/acc?

Gov/acc is not governance maximalism — more governance isn't always better. It's about identifying the right governance surfaces and combining the right tools, processes, and culture to help a community accomplish its goals. A subset of Vitalik's d/acc movement applied to governance.

The program coordinates:

  • Communities that want to experiment with governance tools and processes
  • Researchers and practitioners supporting those communities through public collaboration
  • Tool builders developing solutions that improve governance
  • Public knowledge infrastructure capturing who's working on what, and what's working

Phase 1: Problem & Solution Mapping (Jan–Feb 2026)

Phase 1 gathers structured data on governance problems, proposed solutions, and who's building them — through AI-facilitated interviews and online workshops.

Current status: 19 completed interviews, 33 engaged participants.

Key Findings So Far

Top problems identified:

  1. Token voting failure & plutocracy (raised by 12/19 participants)
  2. Governance theater & recentralization (9/19)
  3. Broken contributor economies (7/19, deepest discussion)
  4. Voting fatigue & apathy (8/19)
  5. Over-reliance on game theory (4/19, but deepest engagement per participant)

Solution categories emerging: Reputation & merit systems, AI-augmented governance, deliberation & signaling tools, governance memory systems, structural & constitutional design, compensation innovation, and alternative governance models.

Participate

We're still collecting perspectives. The structured interview takes ~20 minutes and is facilitated by AI.
