This repository is a preservation effort dedicated to The vMac Project, one of the earliest Macintosh emulators developed during the 1990s.
The original vMac project played an important role in the history of Macintosh emulation, providing support for multiple platforms including DOS, Windows, Linux, OS/2, NeXTSTEP, and classic Macintosh systems.
As the original project has been inactive for many years and much of its online presence has become difficult to access, this repository aims to preserve the publicly available website, documentation, software releases, screenshots, and historical materials for research, educational, and archival purposes.
- Preserve the historical content of The vMac Project.
- Archive documentation, downloads, and related resources.
- Provide a public reference for retrocomputing enthusiasts, researchers, and digital preservation projects.
- Ensure that historically significant software and documentation remain accessible to future generations.
This repository is not an official continuation of The vMac Project and is not affiliated with the original authors or copyright holders.
The primary goal is historical preservation. Whenever possible, original credits, copyrights, and documentation are maintained unchanged.
The content preserved here reflects the state of the project as it existed in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Based on available archives, the website appears to have remained largely unchanged since approximately 2002.
Corrections, missing files, historical information, screenshots, documentation, and references are welcome.
