# Community

G-ADOPT developers host regular face-to-face and online events designed to provide the
geoscientific community with a range of opportunities to interact on targeted model
development.

**Monthly clinic**

: A bring-your-own-problem clinic, where new and existing users can bring models,
issues, workflow questions, or early research ideas and get practical help. Runs
every first Thursday of the month at 3 pm AEDT; remote attendance via
[Zoom](LINK).

**Quarterly webinar**

: A thematic international webinar series, with each session focusing on a particular
application area, method, or scientific question. Runs in February, May, August, and
November, on the last Thursday of the month at 3 pm AEDT; remote attendance via
[Zoom](LINK).

**Annual workshop**

: A flagship workshop that brings the community together more formally. It combines
training with research presentations and user case studies. Usually held in October;
details announced in July.

# Contact

G-ADOPT offers various direct communication channels depending on your needs. Do not
hesitate to get in touch; we will happily come back to you.

**GitHub**

: G-ADOPT is developed publicly on [GitHub](https://github.com/g-adopt/g-adopt). For any
code-related queries, such as bug reports or feature requests, please raise an
[issue](https://github.com/g-adopt/g-adopt/issues) or open a
[discussion](https://github.com/g-adopt/g-adopt/discussions) on our project page.

**Slack**

: G-ADOPT's general communication channel is hosted on
[Slack](https://join.slack.com/t/g-adopt/shared_invite/zt-40awiwyqv-dZPtXRT9GCSA3k~mlfu5jQ).
By joining the channel, you can interact with project leaders and core developers to
discuss scientific ideas or model implementations, for example.

**Email**

: You can privately email the G-ADOPT project team at <help@gadopt.org>.

# Outreach

G-ADOPT aims to provide the geoscientific community with a powerful and flexible
computational platform that allows the development of ambitious, yet user-friendly,
data-driven numerical models. As an open-source project, G-ADOPT reaches out to the
community in several ways to demonstrate novel capabilities, support existing and
prospective users, and attract new collaborators. Learn more about G-ADOPT's outreach
approach and engage with the people who maintain existing and develop upcoming
functionalities by attending regular events, exploring media coverage and scientific
contributions, and connecting with our direct communication channels.

This article introduces the vision behind G-ADOPT — a flexible, adjoint-capable modelling
framework built on Firedrake — and explores how it is reshaping geodynamics by making
high-performance, data-assimilative Earth modelling accessible to a broader research
community.

The Australian Research Data Commons highlights G-ADOPT as a national capability enabling
researchers to address major questions in mantle dynamics, sea-level change, and resource
formation through advanced simulation and optimisation workflows.
