Spoiler: Level Unlock conditions

• With 1 Star you have access to Starshine Beach
• With 1 Star and 200 Starbits you have access to Cosmic Cove (via Hungry Luma)
• At 8 Stars and the Hubworld Star you get access to Ghostly Galaxy
• With Ghostly Galaxy 1 you will unlock Luigi as playable character
• At 11 Stars you get access to Bowser Jr's Fearsome Fleet
• At 14 Stars you get access to Yoshi Star
• At 15 Stars you unlock Comets and Seeker Stars
• At 22 Stars and 300 Coins you unlock Rainbow Road (via Hungry Luma)
• At 26 Stars you unlock Space Storm
• The postgame begins at 35 Stars
• At 40 Stars you permanently unlock Dimension Zero and get access to all levels

Spoiler: Difficult missions

• Starshine Beach 2: Place a Leaf Raft beneath the Cloud Flower thats accessible with a Sling Star. This way you won't lose the Power-Up by falling into the water. Use the Cloud Flower to scale the Cloud Tower. Hit the lever that you find on top. Get back to the ground and repeat the first step. Now head to the Water Tower, use clouds to enter it from the top and get your Power Star while diving inside.

• Starshine Beach 4 (Purple Coins): Don't follow the Purple Coins at the beginning. Jump on Yoshi, grab a Dash Pepper and jump over the cliff to reach the Purple Coins that are aligned in rows of 3. Follow them around the Water Tower. Continue following their path behind the Cloud Tower until they lead you back to the beginning of the mission where the Power Star will appear. The timing is tight, but with this route and some precision you will be able to make it.

• Cosmic Cove 2: After making your way through the 2D cave you will end up beneath the ice in the open area. There is a key hidden on the rightmost side of the area. After collecting it, enter the pipe on the small underwater building to get back to the Luma.

• Cosmic Cove 4 (Romp Comet): You move faster on a curved icy surface by combining skating with jumps instead of purely skating. Find yourself a good route to beat all the frozen Skeeters in time.

• Ghostly Galaxy 3 (Hidden Star): Look for breakable rocks on the starting planet. One of them might not be that easy to reach...

• Fearsome Fleet 4 (Hidden Star): You will find Star Chips in the following spots: 1) Inside the right Koopa Jr. Statue at the beginning of the level. 2) Inside the back Koopa Jr. Statue behind the first Launch Star. 3) In the 2nd section after the first Launch Star defeat the leftmost Undergrunt Gunner and use the appearing Blimp Fruit to get on top of the left moon where you will find the Star Chip. 4) Use the Sling Star on that moon to get to the other moon with a Star Chip on it. 5) After taking the 2nd Sling Star, shoot a Bullet Bill at the back-right Space Mine that's in your path. Collecting this Star Chip will make the Launch Star appear right next to you.
