Pre-existing bug: the scroll1.webm figure on /grandprize referenced a poster with an empty basename, causing a 404 on every page load (the only console error on the site). No poster file ever existed; the video autoplays, so the attribute is dropped. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…lob fix (C1) Obsidian Minimal restyle foundation: --vc-* token layer (tokens.css), shared .vc-* recipes (utilities.css), chrome/landing stubs for parallel work packages, custom.css re-pointed to tokens (re-skins site to #0E0F11/#E5502B), global 900-weight heading reset, Tailwind content globs extended to .mdx/.jsx (purge-bug prerequisite for doc pruning), token color bridge in tailwind.config.js. Atlas data browser frozen except --card/--line indirection. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…n, orphan pruning with redirects (C4) Restores a real 56px navbar (Prizes/Data/Tutorials/Milestones/Community dropdown + Get Started CTA), deletes the brand-in-sidebar and navbar-height-0 hacks, slims the sidebar 15->8 top-level entries with external links moved out and closed-prize labels cleaned, restores the right-hand TOC on 16 long-form docs (FAQ's hand-rolled red index removed), deletes 3 orphaned duplicate docs WITH client-redirects so no historical URL dies, and condenses the footer to one dense band. Build green under strict onBrokenLinks:throw. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…n, tap targets (C3) Flattens all five shared components to the single .vc-card recipe (kills 6-layer shadows, rounded-2xl, multi-red cards), compresses LatestPosts to a dense Updates strip, restyles the BeforeAfter handle, and lands the full docs chrome skin: navbar/sidebar/TOC/footer, neutral body links with ember underlines, ONE admonition recipe, table+code skins, framed images, 44px tap targets, focus rings. Build green. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…chinery deleted (C2) Landing.js 2110->866 lines (data extracted to landingData.js): hero rebuilt navbar-aware with the volcano video demoted to a 0.35-opacity poster-first backdrop, gradient text and 6-layer shadows deleted, all six story beats kept at reading scale on a timeline rule, prize/sponsor walls compressed to dense rows, sidebar hidden on landing. Fixes five pre-existing bugs (broken anchors, protocol-less URL, wrong avatar extension, unrooted video src, missing alt text). Est. page height -33%. Build green. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…edia, zero gradients (C5) custom.css dead rules removed (verified covered by chrome/landing.css), 174 hand-rolled winners.md prize cards converted to the .vc-card recipe, last gradient-text spans replaced with plain accent emphasis (site-wide gradient count now zero), TOC restored on 4 more docs, llms.txt points at the live redirect target, prism dracula->vsDark, and ~60MB of confirmed-unreferenced media deleted (graph_solver.mp4, meshlab-segment4.webm — unreachable from any page, no press link possible). Build green. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…nced pages (C5b) Recompresses the worst in-use media (multi-MB GIFs, a 17MB PNG link target, the hero backdrop webm) to VP9/webp at conservative quality: 129.8MB -> 23.5MB (-81.9%), every output under the 3MB single-asset cap. All originals stay on disk so externally hotlinked asset URLs keep working; only page references changed. Build green. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…t, polish (C6) Fixes the review blocker: the navbar backdrop-filter created a containing block that collapsed the fixed-position mobile drawer to 56px (empty drawer) — resolved with dvh heights + solid panel bg + the restored back-to-main-menu row. Footer becomes the dense band with 44px tap targets (0 small targets remain). Landing drops to 7270px via a rhythm pass + fold-behind-expanders for bulk lists (Citizens, Advisors, pre-2023 story beats — all content preserved). Fixes a pre-existing /tutorial poster 404. Build + targeted mobile captures verified. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…runing, landing folds (C7) Executes Giorgio's direct instructions from the iteration round: hero stat strip with real counts (35 scrolls scanned, 1 read in full), 2026 chapter features PHerc. 1667, bulk lists and pre-2023 story beats fold behind expanders (landing now 6971px, -35% vs baseline), Segments/ Fragments/History pages deleted WITH redirects (no URL dies), Curated Datasets date line, Jobs contributor note, EduceLab funders block removed from landing. Build green, 30/30 harness combos clean. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…y trim, team layout (C8) Join Discord button beside Get Started, scroll stats link to the data browser, 2024 story chapter removed, 2026 chapter shows the unwrapped PHerc 1667 banner strip (pannable, links to /firstscroll) with the Master Plan mention dropped, Vesuvius Challenge + Papyrology teams side by side with EduceLab collapsible next to Advisors. Landing now 6447px. Build green, 5-viewport capture clean. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…op, Senators fold (C9) Join Discord as an outline navbar button beside the filled Get Started, 2026 banner switched to a middle-right object-position crop (left edge was sparse), Senators sponsor tier now collapsible. Build green, 5-viewport capture clean. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… art removal (C10) Open problems reduced to two separate cards (Virtual Unwrapping, Ink Detection — Representation card removed), Villa dei Papiri artwork and artist credit removed from the landing. Build green, 5-viewport capture clean, landing now 5867px. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…captions, Extra category (C11) Rewrites both open-problem captions to match the data browser dashboard (45 scanned, 12 segmenting, 9 ink, 4 text) and the post-PHerc-1667 state, removing the dangling reference to the deleted Representation card; renames the sidebar category The Scrolls -> Extra. Build green, captures clean. See RESTYLE_CHANGELOG.md. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… (C12) Only Overview and Data start expanded; Tutorials/Milestones/Extra/ Archive start collapsed and auto-expand only for pages inside them. Screenshot-verified on /get_started and /tutorial1. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

…strips from chrome image framing (C13) The docs-chrome max-width:100% image rule crushed the 4000px PHerc 1667 banner into the column while its height stayed pinned (distortion). Images with max-w-none or inside overflow-x-auto strips now keep natural width and pan sideways as designed. Screenshot-verified. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Master Plan moves from the Overview sidebar category into Archive; URL unchanged, no redirect needed. Owner request during validation. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ic prizes plugin (C15) Announces the $1,000,000 2027 Grand Prize (23 eligible PHerc volumes, June 25th 2027, collapsible rules/scroll list), restructures First Letters to $50k/scroll across the GP set (max 10 scrolls, $500k) with the restored 2023 evidence rubric, renames First Title to PHerc. Paris 4's Title ($50k, any scan incl. 2.4um), adds the guaranteed $20k/month best-submission Progress Prize, and introduces plugins/prizes-data.js: prize data lives in the prizes page frontmatter and feeds the landing at build time (open pool $2,140,000). Curious Cases -> Scroll Prize, Inc. in prize terms. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…o stats, team overhaul (C16) Floating open-prize-pool sticker ($2,140,000 dynamic, bottom-center pill, yields over the prize board/footer, dismissible), open-prizes board section directly above Open Problems fed by the prizes plugin, dynamic pool stat leading the hero strip (already-awarded -> /winners), Awarded Prizes section removed, owner-dictated scientific captions with prize tie-ins, targets tiles linking to the villa monorepo, condensed 2023 story chapter, and the full team overhaul: two-column credits with roles, masonry team columns, Tech + Annotation teams, renamed Papyrology Team, EduceLab (Partners), roster moves and de-duplications, side-by-side sponsor expanders. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Scrolls display as 'PHerc. 172' / 'PHerc. Paris 4' instead of raw ids: label derived at generation time (phercLabel in genAtlasData.js) and rendered in cards, detail titles, JSON-LD, and alt/aria texts; search matches both spellings. Routes/URLs keep the raw ids (no-dead-links). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ow pipeline strip (C18) [OUTDATED CONTENT] admonitions on all tutorials, Virtual Unwrapping, and Curated Datasets; Volume Cartographer tutorial moved to Archive (URL unchanged); sidebar tutorial order matches the pipeline strip; the strip's four step thumbnails now shrink to one row instead of wrapping inside the 720px content measure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Get Started: 2026 PHerc. 1667 hook, Dive-in leads with the 2027 Grand Prize, Ink Detection first, Data Browser as the see-a-scroll destination, unified Discord invite, vesuvius Python + VC3D (C library mentions removed). FAQ: outdated banner, intro/dates rewritten around the 2026 milestone and 2027 deadlines, publications add the PHerc. 1667 preprint and Angelotti et al. (Scientific Reports 2026), Data Browser readings highlighted, VC3D software answer, scan parameters reframed as history, Scroll Prize, Inc. rename. Changelog entries C15-C19. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…top the page (C20+C21) First Letters loses the $40k/$10k first/second split: $50,000 per scroll to the first team, max 10 scrolls unchanged; tier chips removed from the landing board. New PrizePoolBanner at the top of /prizes shows the plugin-computed open pool ($2,140,000) with the June 25th 2027 Grand Prize deadline, linking to the GP section — same data source as the landing sticker and board. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…s (C22) Community feedback (Sean, Forrest): the per-segment mesh link downloaded an .obj no tool consumes (and the wrong one at that), and the tifxyz was hard to find. Each segment card now links its root folder (tifxyz, surface volumes, predictions) in the S3 file browser and carries a copy-s3 button with the rclone-able s3:// path. Folder derived at generation time from the segment's own data URLs. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… pair, refs trim (C45) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…xes (C46) New .vc-problem admonition variant (ember label, 3px edge, accent wash); four boxes distilling each section's core problem, incl. the verbatim PHerc. 1667 ink caveat. Owner-reviewed wording. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Drop optimizer-step and tile counts and the Kinetics-transfer
digression ("architectural rather than topical"); model spec and
checkpoint links kept.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…cleaner lead (C48) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
New tutorial_VC3D page (draft) that will eventually replace tutorial_VC: covers launching the GUI, loading data, navigation, the Volume Package and Viewer Controls panels, fiber/line annotation, patch growth, and tracer. Includes converted screenshots/screen-recordings under static/img/tutorials/vc3d/. Registered in the Archive sidebar. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Sidebar: Archive -> Open Problems, above Spiral Fitting. Date stamp July 11, 2026. Linked from Open Problems (related tutorials + inline where VC3D is introduced) and the landing Virtual Unwrapping CTA. Corpus picks it up automatically (34 docs). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… drop deprecated repo link (C52) TutorialsTop defaults no longer point at archived pages; in-prose /segmentation links retargeted to the VC3D tutorial; ChatCallout with page-specific prefills on VC3D/spiral/ink tutorials; deprecated data.aws.ash2txt.org repo line removed from Data Formats (Neuroglancer sources kept — volumes not mirrored elsewhere). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Duplicates of the HTTP/S3 rows (open-data bucket); the old s3://vesuvius-challenge paths rendered as data.aws.ash2txt.org links. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… volume names (C54) List rebuilt from the regenerated atlas index: visible text is each scan's full name (timestamp-voxel-distance-energy) as shown in the Data Browser; all 14 Neuroglancer hrefs verified against live volume paths. Count 23 -> 14 in prizes hook (flows to landing) + get_started. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…planations, tifxyz mesh package, mesh-named images (C55) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ins (C56) Smaller meshes valid only when localizing broken papyrus or detached patches. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ogress Prizes (C58) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…r Mesh deliverable (C59) Mesh (tifxyz, flattened) of the title region required; image generated from volume + submitted mesh and named after it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…3 (C60) Paris 4: 2026 ESRF rescans (2.4um + 45.5um overviews) added to the story. Paris 3: About section added (was the only named scroll without one). PHerc 332: 2025 ESRF 2.4um rescan added, stale "extremely high resolution" framing reworded. Audited all 45 samples; 1667, 172 and all fragments verified current (172's "~70% by Nov 2025" note flagged to owner for a fresher figure). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Notes and descs no longer repeat each other: stub notes dropped where the desc covers everything (Scrolls 1-4), status note kept only where it adds facts (172), 139's note reworded. Paris 4 and 1667 descs rewoven so scanning story and milestones each appear exactly once. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…> false-positive terminology; GP gains mitigation + held-out validation (C62) First Letters mirrors GP/Title: Meshes deliverable, images from volume + submitted mesh, mesh-named images. "Hallucination" replaced site-wide with false-positive/spurious-pattern wording; 64x64 example sentence dropped; held-out validation now on public input renders/volumes. Same fixed blocks added to the Grand Prize. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…isclosure is a requirement (C63) Applied to both First Letters and First Title closings. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…rc 332 About (C64) Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Dashboard: ~4.3 PB tile removed; ink tile now "with verified ink detection results", captions dropped from ink and recovered-text tiles. Data Formats: WIP transition disclaimer removed and the stale "both repositories" wording fixed (single open-data bucket now). Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
