Coordinate Systems

OpenRT uses a right-hand Right-Handed Coordinate System. Thus, if axis Y points up, axis Z points away, the axis X will point to the left: $\vec{X}\times\vec{Y}=\vec{Z}$

  • WCS- 3D - hitpoint- World Coordinate System
  • OCS - 3D - [procedural textures, dp/du, dp/dv] - Object Coordinate System
  • UV - 2D- 2d texture - Mapping Coordate System

hitpoint -> WCS -> OCS -> UV -> ray
