UResourced ========== NOTE: This daemon is designed for obsoletion. The codebase is not supposed to be pretty, it just needs to do the one job until other components are able to take over in the long run. This daemon will give resource allocations to active graphical users. Which is done by adjusting some user-X.slice and user@X.service resource allocation systemd properties on the fly. One thing this does is giving the active user an overall higher priority in comparison with other users (inactive or remote ssh sessions). But, more importantly, the user gets a memory protection assigned to them. In accordance with https://systemd.io/DESKTOP_ENVIRONMENTS/ this resource allocation will be distributed towards the user's session.slice. To achieve this, the daemon does the following: * Install drop-in configurations for user services (may be desktop environment specific, and are meant as a band-aid until adopted upstream). * Runtime generated drop-in to mirror allocation assignments inside the user scope. Due to how this works, the user systemd instance may need to be restarted (or reloaded) after a configuration change. Theoretically a SIGHUP send to each user instance would be sufficient, the daemon only ensures it is started prior using systemd synchronisation mechanisms. If you want to make sure it is correctly applied, and do not know how to check, then please do a reboot after installing and enabling the service.
