FuelFare uses a straightforward formula to calculate trip fuel cost:
Fuel Cost = (Distance ÷ 100) × Fuel Consumption × Fuel Price
For example, a 250 km trip with a car that consumes 7.5 L/100km at a fuel price of $1.50/L:
Fuel needed = 250 ÷ 100 × 7.5 = 18.75 liters
Fuel cost = 18.75 × $1.50 = $28.13
If you add $5.00 in tolls and $3.00 in parking, the total trip cost becomes $36.13. Split between 3 passengers, each person pays $12.04.
The "Show Math" feature displays this entire breakdown step by step, so you always know how the final number was calculated. FuelFare supports both metric (L/100km, km) and imperial (MPG, miles) units.
