Please describe the feature you have in mind and explain what the current shortcomings are?
For the asset contribution workflow we should automatically loft metadata from the payload into the containing layer for better metadata on load. Like setting the extents of the contained data of the payload without needing to load the payload.
An example of that is also in ALAB assets where the variant sets and extens are lofted up to the containing file so they can be parsed without requiring to load the full heavy payload.

How would you imagine the implementation of the feature?
Write the logic to get the relevant information for lofting by reading (and composing) a payload USD file and then writing that to the prim containing the payloads (similar to Houdini Loft Payload Info LOP).
