ESP8266 or ESP32

I cannot see in the code where it can upload to an ESP8266.
Can you help?

WiFi-Serial communication to ESP8266 means...

1. Uploading to an AVR via WiFi using ESP8266.
2. Using the AVR serial port <-> WiFi

Uploading to an esp8266, you would use an OTA specifically for it, via Binary blob ESP8266 OTA. An example does not exist,
I'll have to take a look into how I implemented it years ago, this may take me some time, as I am busy with work.
