Unless you have a need to build your own, you are always better off with a pre-made board. I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say a V1, this would be extremely old. The code works with most modern units but we have found some older units that have limited or no compatibility. Yes, it is as easy as plug and play. Once connected you configure your wifi and mqtt details and you are set. Thanks for the note about discord, I will have a look at the referral link. |

Hi, we've just moved into a new home with a SpaNet SV2 spa, and have never owned one before.
I immediately found the built in controls and timing features pretty rudimentary and pretty liniting, so went on the hunt for a WiFi adaptor.
What I found was a V1 or V2/V3, which the limited suppliers here in Australia wanted well over half a grand for!
That's how I stumbled upon this project. I have plenty of experience with working with ESP8266s/32s for home automation (via HA) projects, but the warning on here about frying the main board has me leaning towards purchasing the pre-made V2 mini (due to the reported cost of replacing the board!).
My questions are, am I on the right track? - I believe my Spa is suitable, but thought I'd double check before going down this path.
Having never accessed the controller inside the Spa, I've found very little formation about how to access it, or even its location on the spa! Is it really as simple as removing a cover, and plugging in the RJ45 cable?
Finally, I would have posted this on the Discord, but when I paste the link into the app, it says that the invitation has expired?
Cheers for any guidance on this, really hoping to tie it into my Home Assistant automation, and to sync up with our solar production and excess home battery capacity. Cheers
