Why specifically “Claude Code” Manager?

Hey @tylergraydev I note the project name is specifically Claude Code Tool Manager, though from what I understand it also has reach into Claude Desktop settings.

May I ask, is the naming because it started with Claude Code and expanded over time or perhaps because you intend to focus on the Claude Code more dev centric audience? Vague question I know though I'm genuinely curious on your thoughts around your project name.

It started as a simple manager of just skills and mcps for Claude Code. As both Claude and Claude Code has evolved, its scope has changed too. It even has partial support for many other CLI tools like Copilot CLI. But my main work flow day to day is still 95% Claude Code over anything else. Maybe when I am more confident in how it works with other CLI and AI tooling I'd consider renaming.

Makes sense! I'm similarly focused on CC over everything else.

Desktop seems to be essentially a wrapper of Code anyway, so it only makes sense to focus on it as the core.

Claude Desktop does have some pretty incredible stuff built in. It can render jsx and come up with prototypes super quick. As well as has its own fs hosted on Claude servers. I use it when I start a project.

oh absolutely - and re-reading my comment it may have come off as slamming Desktop. I agree it has some impressive engineering, particularly around Cowork and the way it ships with a whole VM for sandboxing purposes.
