Note: The user was also getting an analysis error because the database was locked/read-only. This may be why lexer creation suddenly failed on all these checks at once. I believe the checks just need some form of validation to check if the lexer can be created before invoking the lexer() method.

The the unable to create lexer error is raised as an exception. That means we would need to wrap all lexer creation in try/catch blocks. I've talked with Kevin and Heidi about this and reworking every script that uses the lexer to gracefully handle this exception is not worth our time.

There is an issue here that needs to be fixed, but we're going to approach this problem from a different direction.
