When I spend time on open source work, it's mainly maintaining simpleaudio or experimenting with potential new candidates for audio playback and processing with Python. I'd love to devote more time to this to enable more makers, musicians, hackers, and students to continue learning and experimenting, and sponsoring me will help me do that.

Some of my near-term interests are developing a companion package to simpeaudio that's designed for real-time streaming audio (but is also cross-platform and dependency-free). This will enable audio output for applications such as software synthesizers playable in real time, software-defined radios, media players, sonification and more. I'm particularly interested in the software synth application, particularly using numpy/scipy in conjunction with real-time MIDI input. There might be opportunity for a synth toolbox package, or at least some interesting demos/tutorials.
