The setting for favicons does not seem to work. How to debug please?

I am running linkding on a pi4 and it seems to work fine except there are favicons displayed, even though the box in settings is ticked.

How can I debug this?

Try to reload the page from source or clean the cache, the option is working.

Hi thanks for replying. I should have said that NO favicons are being displayed at all. My typo, sorry.

Also, no icon is displayed at all, not even a broken "world" icon.

Assuming background tasks are not disabled via LD_DISABLE_BACKGROUND_TASKS=True, check whether the favicons dir under your LD_HOST_DATA_DIR dir is empty; if it is, then favicons aren't being downloaded.

Next, check the background task logs using docker exec linkding cat /etc/linkding/background_tasks.log to see if you can spot any issues.

If that file is missing or empty, it could be that Huey isn't running. Running docker exec linkding cat /proc/*/comm 2>/dev/null should return a list that includes at least uwsgi, supervisord, and python.

If python is missing (possibly supervisord too), check out #1249 for a similar issue, along with commands to try manually running Huey.

Actually, no. At least one site, adafruit.com fails to supply a favicon. Is this because it is highly protected from scraping? Is there another, more comprehensive site that provides favicons?

My mistake. blog.adafruit.com has an icon which is a combination of a pale/paler white and is practically invisible. Very annoying.
