Bot having conversations in connect to mrn channel

New user has tagged the bot @rivers, which I assume is why the bot is responding to them in that way.

Today's example:

[Mel01000001]

They were able to post in connect to mrn after they had connected to the server. I thought once connected, they could no longer access/see that channel?
