App stuck on initial screen, "Check Shizuku Connection" does nothing while Shizuku is running

Device: Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G

After installing to the latest version, whenever I launch the app all I get is an unskippable screen that tells me to download Shizuku. Even after installing Shizuku, setting it up and running it, if I press the "check shizuku connection" button absolutely nothing happens and I can't seem to get past this screen in any way.
(The button however does give a message if Shizuku isn't running, so it's not like it isn't functioning at all.)

Yes I've tried reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone, etc.

You will need to uninstall Shizuku completely then install this version of the app.
