Bug Report: Low 5ghz signal strength on mt7621 + mt7615 stack #1058
Description
Dear mt76 maintainers,
I am writing to report a persistent issue with low signal strength on the 5GHz band when using the MT7621 + MT7615 combination in router. This problem seems to be affecting multiple devices running recent OpenWrt versions. I have observed significantly capped signal (at 9dbm) on the same hardware. This degraded performance is impacting the usability of the 5GHz network for users running late openwrt versions. Personally, I have attempted various configurations and firmware settings, but things have barely differed without resolving the issue. I kindly request your investigation into this matter and a potential persistent fix, especially that the recent OpenWrt 25 would get the scripts into ucode ( wifi) making it a great opportunity to propose a certain patch to address the issue, (It must be mentioned that there seems to be a patch addressing the issue on git, though firmware must be recompiled from source code for every openwrt iteration, making it inconvenient (I am more than available to provide the patch and its relevant directory) I am available to provide any relevant information to get a solution implemented.
Sincerely,
One of the many mt7621/mt7615 users
