[FEATURE] Icons in Nav bar links #97

I have checked all the prerequisites below and I don't see this is available
- Read the README.md
- Have the extended version of Hugo installed
- Used the exampleSite's config.toml as a reference
Describe the feature
It would be nice if there was an option to add Fontawesome icons in front of menu links and/or have icon only links.
It seems like there is an option for this in Hugo via the "pre" menu variable, see; https://gohugo.io/content-management/menus/#add-non-content-entries-to-a-menu but this isn't recognized by the theme as far as I can tell.
Specifically we would like to link to a Mastodon page via a small Mastodon icon and the site RSS feed via a small RSS icon.
I guess an option to link a "social" URL similar to how the "source" link is done would also work.
I tried making some minor modifications by overwriting theme files, but none of the less invasive options worked, so I guess that it would be best if this was added upstream here. Thanks in advance!
