Target Outcome: Improved viewer performance and functionality for audio-visual content delivery
Context WVU anticipates significant growth in audio-visual holdings, with approximately 1,800 new AV assets expected over the next year from two grant-funded digitization projects. Current viewer configuration is suboptimal for AV content
Approach: The team will evaluate and implement improvements to the IIIF viewer experience, with particular focus on:
Audio and video playback optimization
Streaming performance for large media files
Universal Viewer configuration for multimedia content
User interface enhancements specific to AV navigation
Testing with representative sample files from the upcoming digitization projects
Priority Level: This work would be prioritized collaboratively with WVU stakeholders during Sprint Planning, balanced against other critical bug fixes and accessibility requirements
Dependencies: Access to sample AV files from WVU's collections for testing purposes
