@kellijohnson-NOAA just making you aware of this component of the FIT plan for this year. I think we probably could discuss closer to the end of the year, unless you feel like now is a good time to do this.

Here some preliminary thoughts from my end: I feel like I hear people believing FIT and FIMS have a lot of overlap, but I don't really see it that way - FIT is a collection of software tools that span the entire range of NMFS science use cases, while FIMS is a system of software designed to be interoperable, focused on stock assessment (though links to other scientific areas to enhance the stock assessment are considered). FIMS is part of the FIT, but FIT contains other software for other scientific use cases.

Do you think there are other nuances here?

I'm also wondering where such documentation should live - perhaps the FIT blog, FIMS website, or both - or maybe somewhere else.
