Using shift-enter in an unordered list does not visibly create a new line, but pressing backspace does nothing which implies a phantom element.

Steps:

1. Click "UL"
2. Press shift+enter
3. Press backspace
4. Press backspace

I would have expected that pressing shift+enter would move the cursor down one line, OR that pressing backspace would remove the list. I would not have expected a phantom element.
