Problem
Azure SRE Agent currently lacks native integration with Microsoft 365 services (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint). During incident response, engineers need to:
- Post updates to a Teams incident channel with structured status updates
- Send email notifications (Outlook) to stakeholders with RCA summaries
- Access SharePoint/Wiki documentation for product architecture context during investigations
Today, all of these require manual context switching outside the agent.
Current Behavior
- No M365 connectors available in the agent's connector marketplace
- Teams notifications require external Logic App or Power Automate workflows
- Agent cannot read Teams meeting transcripts, SharePoint docs, or Outlook threads
- M365 Copilot and SRE Agent are separate products with no cross-integration
Proposed Solution
Native MCP connectors for M365 services:
- Teams connector — post structured incident updates to channels, read meeting transcripts for customer call context, create incident bridges
- Outlook connector — send email notifications with RCA summaries, read support ticket email threads for context
- SharePoint connector — read product architecture wikis and documentation during investigations
Use Case
Incident Collaboration
When the SRE Agent detects and investigates a production incident:
- Agent posts a structured update to the product team's Teams channel (severity, impact, current status)
- Agent reads the customer support Teams call transcript to understand the reported symptoms
- Agent sends an email summary to the incident distribution list when mitigation is complete
- Agent references the product's SharePoint architecture wiki during RCA
Customer Bug Triage
Teams meeting transcripts from customer support calls are a valuable input for automated bug triage workflows. Without a Teams connector, organizations cannot natively ingest these transcripts into the agent for analysis, work item creation, and automated resolution.
Impact
- Medium-High — enables closed-loop incident communication without context switching
- Critical dependency for customer bug triage workflows that rely on Teams transcript ingestion
- M365 connectors are Microsoft-signed and high-trust — pre-approved in most enterprise security frameworks
Environment
- Azure SRE Agent (GA)
- Microsoft 365 tenant
- Teams as primary collaboration platform for incident response
