Setup Table Singleton Pattern

In the NAV Patterns Archive we have the pattern for singleton setup tables, that mentions having this code on the setup page:

OnOpenPage()
    RESET;
    IF NOT GET THEN BEGIN
        INIT;
        INSERT;
    END;

But I remember that Waldo had a pattern for this for AL code.
Something like this:

On the table:

procedure InsertIfNotExists()
    begin
        if Rec.Get() then
            exit;
        Rec.Init();
        Rec.Insert();
    end;

On the page:

trigger OnOpenPage()
begin
    Rec.InsertIfNotExists()
end;

Is this the best practice pattern?
Should it be included on the alguidelines.dev site?
