I think we are never going to truly solve this especially as we scale up. The difference in classification between path, track, unclassified roads, etc. is very subjective and hard to get right. Then beyond that, we have to decide whether a track gets the access=forestry tag.

It may help our case to tag start dates on all roads in our target areas? Since the public roads enable logging and lead to dedicated logging roads, we may get a clearer picture by showing all the road development over time?

Agree with Kris. It will be very challenging to keep track on change. Collecting the start date for all roads will be very helpful to evaluate their impact.

However, there are clear differences between pure logging roads (going just though forest and ending in nowhere) and other roads (connecting farms and villages). We can still point out this different to sensitize users.
