Cool program, runs well from terminal.
Does not work with xscreensaver 5.42, xscreensaver-demo shows

Tried to run the script itself and via python3, from
"$HOME/python/webscreensaver/webscreensaver"
and /usr/lib/xscreensaver
Doesn't it need to use the whole screen instead of a window?

Are you using Wayland or Xorg? As far as I know XScreensaver only works with Xorg.

The XScreensaver daemon takes care of passing a window ID to draw on. This is what webscreensaver uses.
