Properly Label Project as Abandoned #52

Description

@alexfornuto

If you aren't going to maintain this project, beyond the occasional repackaging for new distro releases, then it should be properly marked as derelict. Here are some reasons:

  • Your support team will thank you, several open issues remark that they contact Linode support about the outstanding problems.
  • At 9 years old, I wonder what exploits might have been discovered, undisclosed to either Linode or the public...
  • It's better for the brand image to be transparent and open about your intentions with this project. Users will appreciate not being strung along, and a consensus would likely form around a fork to continue the idea, if there's sufficient interest. And with Linode's history, it would be refreshing to see the company be proactive instead of reactive, even with a small thing like Longview.

And don't say it's not abandoned. The last issue closed by anyone other than the OP was in 2020. The oldest open issue is from 2014.
