Description
Add nodes in 2D mode later
In 2D mode, it would be very helpful if you could subsequently add nodes to an existing profile.
In practice, it often happens that you want to subsequently add another profile to an existing one. Currently, the only option is to delete the original profile and redraw it with the appropriate nodes—which is particularly annoying if materials, bearings, or loads have already been defined.
A subsequent addition of nodes would simplify the workflow considerably.
I will try to explain my problem using a simplified example:
Step 1: I'm in 2D mode and have drawn a 6m long beam on two supports. Later, I realize that the beam would be too large for this span and that it would make more sense to add an additional support in the middle.
Step 2: Now comes the problem. If I draw the third column from bottom to top up to the beam, a node appears. However, this node isn't connected to the beam.
To establish the connection, I now have only two unpleasant workarounds:
- I delete the 6m beam and instead draw two new ones of 3m and connect them to the supports (annoying when geometry and material are already selected.
Or 2.: I move the right column 3m to the left, then draw the second part of the beam and the next column. (Okay in this simple example, but in more complex structures, everything shifts.)
A simple solution could be to insert a node after step 1 (e.g., similar to inserting a force) to which I can then connect the third support. This would also allow nodes to be deleted without deleting the entire profile.
