Right now the 3d viewer shows a ribbon connection where a jump in the residue sequence is present.
The Chimera viewer shows a dashed line for these connections.
Here is an email reply that discusses this "feature":
"The "missing segments" dashed lines show where the protein is really connected even though the structure did not contain XYZ coordinates for the atoms. "
