Shift Key or Caps Lock Key Not Working

I am using Symless Synergy to share the keyboard and mouse to my Mac and when I try to use the shift key or caps lock key in my VM it does not work. if I use a keyboard directly connected to my Mac it works. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make my shared keyboard work?

Synergy user here as well. I just ran into this same issue between my 2020 iMac and my M1 Mac mini (which is where I'm running my VirtualBuddy VM).
