failing specs

Hi, are the specs supposed to pass?

I ran the specs and got the following results:
2329 examples, 110 failures, 37 pending

Failures in

1. spec/shared/finder_shared.rb
2. spec/public/resource_spec.rb

I ran your specs on ruby 1.9.3p551, 2.1.0, and 2.2.0

Hi, thank you for trying it out.

The failing tests represent features that ardm doesn't yet cover. For example, negating a has n association in a query. For the most part ardm has coverage of the core functionality of datamapper, but it is still incomplete.

I'm also working on bringing the dm-* gems up to date under the new scope ardm-. My hope is to make these gems smart enough to live along side the ardm gem and switch their behavior between AR and DM modes according to the ORM setting in ardm. I just started on this project and so far about 14 dm gems are ported and updated to work with rails 4 and ruby 2.0. I'll be blogging about it soon (I only started on it this week) and I'll try to link here.

The ardm- gems should replace directly version for version in 1.2.x. ardm-rails and ardm-active_model are updated to work on rails4 in versions ~> 1.3. You can also check out the github org here: http://github.com/ar-dm

In the meantime, don't be worried that the tests don't pass. I'd try getting it working in your application just in DM mode according to the instructions in the README. I tried to update them to make them easier to follow, but I'm sure you'll have questions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sweet, thanks for the write up!

The reason why I wanted to run your test suite was because I wanted to relax the stringex requirement on my dev environment for the ardm gem and check if all the tests still passed. Your gemspec requires stringex (~>1.3.3). I am using dm-types (=1.2.2) which requires stringex (1.5.1).

Do you happen to know if relaxing the version requirements for stringex is an issue?

I think you'll find the ardm-* gems very interesting. I've relaxed all the deps on them to ~> Major.minor which leaves the version management more to bundler. Check the ar-dm github org and see if all the gems you need are there. If not, let me know which ones are missing and I'll port them.

As for ardm's deps, there's no reason for them to be so strict. I'll push a new version with looser deps.
