I down loaded the sample, extracted to folder and started the maui app. I am ussing VS preview 17.3 preview 1.1 any ideas in how to fi this would be appreciated

Many times this happens when there is a custom handler or renderer that is being registered wrong. There are two general types, the platform specific renderers and general handlers that are still named as renderers.

For example, if a renderer is inherited from Microsoft.Maui.Controls.Handlers.Compatibility.ListViewRenderer you will find that it implements the handler interfaces such as IPlatformViewHandler and IViewHandler. As such it should be registered with AddHandler.

If that same class is instead inherited from Microsoft.Maui.Controls.Compatibility.Platform.Android.ListViewRenderer and look at what it inherits from you will see it implements IViewRenderer. It should instead be registered with AddCompatibilityRenderer.

Using the wrong registration will create that runtime error when the type is created.
