video freezing on version 1.3.8

oftentimes when I'm jogging frame by frame, the video will freeze entirely, or the video will freeze and the sound keeps going.
 I have to quit and restart Datavyu multiple times.

I'm using 1.3.8 on Windows 10. I cannot use the newer version because it does not work with our project, we need to use a custom steps per second.
