The Terraform Plugin Framework has been GA since December 2022 and appears to be where HashiCorp is focusing new development. SDKv2 seems to be in maintenance mode: security patches only, no new features. Though no formal EOL date has been announced. The implicit suggestion is that SDKv2 support would end with a future Terraform 2.0, but no such release has been announced. As far as we can tell, this is strategic pressure rather than an urgent deadline.
Terraform Plugin SDKv2 technology will continue to exist alongside the Plugin Framework, but we recommend that provider developers adopt the new Plugin Framework to make use of the latest features. Going forward, new features and tooling will be prioritized for the Plugin Framework.
