How do I manually trigger garbage collection using the C api?

lua_gc is one of the few functions we don't expose on gc, for reference: https://github.com/lua/lua/blob/51269bd783c9371252947b26cc865239dbb0153d/lapi.c#L1170

what is your use-case? I think evaluating lua calling collectgarbage functions isn't a bad idea though

its being used for cleaning up garbage between state in a compat layer i have, i already call "collectgarbage" for now, but i'd prefer to not do that

for reference:

      this.close();
