Problem Solver Platform - User Guide

Welcome to the Problem Solver Platform!

This guide will help you understand how to use the platform effectively to address workplace challenges through collective, quasi-anonymous problem-solving.

1. Getting Started

Creating Your Account

  1. Sign Up: Click the "Login" button on the homepage to create your account using Google OAuth.

  2. First Steps: After logging in:

    • Complete your profile settings
    • Set your preferred anonymity level
    • Add your departments and expertise areas

Main Navigation

  • Dashboard: Your personalized landing page showing:

    • Problems you've submitted
    • Problems assigned for evaluation
    • Your recent activity and notifications
    • Statistics and platform metrics
  • Problems: Browse all workplace problems

  • Solutions: View and manage proposed solutions

  • Evaluations: Access evaluation dashboard

  • Profile: Manage your account settings

Using the Platform

The platform is designed for easy navigation with clear visual indicators for different states and actions.

3. Creating Problems

Problem Creation Process

  1. Access Problem Creation: Click "Create Problem" in the Problems section
  2. Basic Information: Provide:
    • Title (max 200 characters): Clear, descriptive title
    • Description (max 2000 words): Detailed problem description
    • Initial Solutions: 1-3 proposed solutions
    • Severity: Low, Medium, High, Critical
    • Affected Departments: Select relevant teams
    • Tags: Choose relevant categories
    • Visibility: Choose your preferred anonymity level

Best Practices

  • Be Specific: Vague problems are harder to solve effectively
  • Provide Context: Include relevant background information
  • Think Solutions: Offer comprehensive, actionable solutions
  • Set Realistic Goals: Break down large problems into smaller, manageable ones

4. Solving Problems

Evaluation System

Problems and solutions are evaluated on multiple criteria:

  • Problem Severity (1-5): How critical is the issue?
  • Problem Impact (1-5): How many people are affected?
  • Solution Feasibility (1-5): How realistic is the solution?
  • Solution Creativity (1-5): How innovative is the approach?
  • Solution Completeness (1-5): How well does the solution address the problem?

Participating in Evaluations

  1. Objective Feedback: Provide constructive, balanced evaluations
  2. Consider Multiple Perspectives: Look at problems from different angles
  3. Respect Anonymity: Evaluate based on content quality, not identity
  4. Follow Guidelines: Use the evaluation criteria consistently

5. Dashboard & Analytics

Personalized Feed

Your dashboard shows:

  • My Problems: Problems you've submitted
  • Problems to Evaluate: Problems assigned for your evaluation
  • My Solutions: Solutions you've proposed
  • My Evaluations: Evaluations you've completed
  • Recent Activity: Latest platform updates
  • Statistics: Your contribution metrics

Key Metrics

  • Problems Created: Total problems you've initiated
  • Solutions Proposed: Solutions you've contributed
  • Evaluations Completed: Evaluations you've provided
  • Votes Received: Upvotes on your solutions

6. Anonymity Settings

Privacy Levels

  1. Identified (Default): Your real name and email visible to all users
  2. Semi-Anonymous: Pseudonym shown to regular users, real name visible to administrators
  3. Anonymous: Pseudonym shown to all users

Changing Settings

  • Access: Profile → Edit Profile
  • Email Notifications: Control email frequency and types
  • Visibility: Default anonymity level for new content

Privacy Features

  • Anonymity Decay: Content automatically becomes identified after 30 days
  • Admin Override: Administrators can always see real identities
  • Audit Logging: All anonymity changes are tracked

7. Notifications

Notification Types

  • Problem Created: New problems submitted for review
  • Solution Added: New solutions to your problems
  • Evaluation Received: Your work has been evaluated
  • Problem Status Changed: Resolution progress updates
  • Digest Emails: Daily/weekly summaries of platform activity

Managing Notifications

  • View All: See your complete notification history
  • Mark Read/Unread: Manage notification status
  • Delete: Remove old or irrelevant notifications
  • Email Preferences: Choose notification frequency and types

8. API Integration

Getting Started

  1. API Base URL: https://your-domain.com/api/v1
  2. Authentication: API key required for protected endpoints
  3. Rate Limiting: Be mindful of rate limits for high-traffic applications

  • Problems: /problems (GET all, GET specific)
  • Solutions: /solutions (GET all, GET specific, POST new)
