Translate Grids / Languages Dialog

Is it possible to remove languages?
My grid is supposed to have german and english - but it actually has 22 languages (I think because I got the weather elements from the demo? not sure).
And that's a whole lot of languages that might be adding lag, and that I just don't need in there.

I guess you could export to a custom file only the current language (now that that works again), import that into a new user (or wipe the old one, then import) - and then add the other language you need back in through copying into the batch-translate form, if you still have that grid set in a temporary offline user or something.
I don't know if or how well that works (and sometimes translations don't show up in there for me - e.g. if I have my grid in english, but it seems I put a couple labels in the german translation instead, but in the translate form they won't show up - switching languages will usually fix that), but I might try soon. If you try, really make backups before...

I imagine that a good way to implement this would be by adding a clear column option under more > translate grid to the second column. Given that to clear the entire translation one has to first select show all grids in the grid to translate dropdown, it's unlikely that accidental translation deletions would happen. Though an This action deletes the translation and is irreversible - are you sure? message could also be added in any case.

Oh, so, if a column in the translate option is empty everywhere, does the language go away from the grid set? Or is it still included in the set for having been used at one point? (that's how the language and voices dialog does it - at one point I was using specifically GB english for the time formats, and it's still shown as an option in settings even though I changed it back to normal english now)

If so, you could just get an empty batch from a language that wasn't used yet, and paste that into the language you want to delete. (Not a super intuitive solution for people who have tech trouble sometimes, but for me it'd definitely be easier than my export-import-scheme!)

Yes. I mean the language is still in the dropdown as an option but no translation exists, it's not saved elsewhere.

If so, you could just get an empty batch from a language that wasn't used yet, and paste that into the language you want to delete.

"Overwriting" columns with text with emptiness doesn't work, I've already tried that.

sorry. it doesn't matter too much. I can just get overwhelmed by options, or misclick and cause more chaos, so I'd like to not have extra languages in my default dropdowns if I can find a way.

The "current languages" dropdown in the settings includes all languages that a grid set has been translated to, even if it's just one single element that has been translated and the rest hasn't. So, if a grid set has zero translations into a language, that language only shows up under the "show all languages" dropdown only.

In the more > translate grid menu, the languages that a grid set has been translated to show up in the Select already used languages section. The "texts in" dropdown shows all languages.

Okay, having just fixed my translations, I have a couple more asks to go with the "clear column" idea:

"ok, next grid" and "ok, previous grid" at the bottom of the dialog, like edit element has - so it saves after every grid without closing and opening the whole thing, and so you don't have to scroll back up to get the next grid
(you could also do "show all grids" to not have that, but... my asterics at least has a tendency to crash because ... i forgot the screen, but that black "too many things going on" or whatever it says. I'll make a note when I get one next.
That's not as bad if you just did a couple things, like moving or copy-pasting a bunch of elements - but when it's an hour or a couple hours of fixing translations that are gone... so I try to save a lot more often.)

And also when you did the copy / paste column - that it responds to "undo", if you forgot a label or something so the whole thing is one off, or you overwrote a label you still needed...
Actually... how do people editing on mobile use undo in dialogs? does it just not work there unless you quit out?

Oh, and one more - you can quit out of the dialog with escape, like all other dialogs. That's great, but for me I use tab to quickly fix many labels, and I have many times pressed escape by accident and lost all unsaved translation work. Could there be an "are you sure?" popup or "save and quit / quit without saving" or something?

Getting rid of the Languages in the Translate Dialog worked, thank you!
They're still showing up in the export one - that's not a bother, just annoying, and I don't know if they'll still lag like that or not. but I can't very well think of a way to get rid of them, except my weird export-import-idea that I'm not super keen on trying.

Which export? Word forms? If yes, that actually would only work with the export-import-step, or manually in the word forms tab.

I don't think that additional languages will cause any lags, the texts are very little data compared to the images.

The best solution (in the long term) probably would be to have a "Translation" tab in the "Manage grids" menu, where you can edit the translations of the whole configuration at once (like now selecting "All grids" in the existing one, which is more like a hack and doesn't really belong in the edit mode of a single grid).

Yes - I think when it was mentioned, there would have been an "are you sure?" check. But still... dangerous button to add.

I'm still hoping for navigation through the grids, as a save per grid and still batch-edit, and a fix for the accidental escape. But it might just be me on that one... And most people probably don't mess up their languages quite as often as me and have to go fix whole rows of buttons to be saved in the right language for that word!
