Update/upgrade codebase to be compatible with current stable PHP versions.

As per title.
I've seen a fork with a lot of work already done.
I've got a decoupled fork with a lot of similar changes.
Would like to bring the main codebase up-to-par as to not be comparing the whole time when changes are available
Have no issue on working on this alone but would like some feedback from other users/devs, thanks!

That would be great. Without updating to new php versions videodb can't stay active in the long run. I have been using videodb since 2015 and I have over 21000 records now. Last year I changed the server from ubuntu 14.04 to ubuntu 20.04 and therefore had to update videodb too. I was glad to find this "new" repository and there are people who keep videodb running in a current system. At the moment I used php7.4 and an update of the server to ubuntu 22.04 with php8 was unfortunately not successful.
Unfortunately I can't program in php, but testing would be easy.

Oh, but testing, especially with such a huge number, would be very helpful too!
Just don't forget the backups ;-)
I've been a videoDB user since I think 2010 (off and on), even ran a totally customized version for a while until I lost it in a server crash. Picked it up again a while back, ran into some issues (mainly because times change) and decided to finally give some back...

Any progress on this topic? Ubuntu 22.04, Debian 12 and AlmaLinux 9.2 are all shipping with PHP 8.x
