OSMesa deprecated/removed

I just wanted to flag that the OSMesa library has been removed from Mesa as of 25.1.0 (https://docs.mesa3d.org/relnotes/25.1.0.html, https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/33836), so people need to refrain from upgrading/downgrade if they want to use wb. This is particularly annoying for users who install Mesa via Homebrew, as Homebrew doesn't maintain older versions of Mesa easily accessible, though supposedly they're possible to access through workarounds that pull from older github commits.

We use an OpenGL 2.1 in Connectome Workbench and thus use an old version of Mesa, 7.8.2. Thus, this will not affect the versions of Connectome Workbench available for download through humanconnectome.org.

I did not see Connectome Workbench in HomeBrew. Are you building from source?

Yes, we're building from source b/c our lab needs custom colormaps. We've been building from source using much more recent versions of the libraries than it sounds like you're using w/ reasonable success. However, we have been having weird issues where wb_view hangs when trying to open niftis for some users, but we haven't been able to replicate the exact conditions under which this occurs.

Are there alternatives to building from source if we need custom colormaps? If not, do you have general recommendations for library versions etc. to ensure our build is as stable as possible?

We have not had any problems with wb_view hanging while reading a NIFTI file. Have you tried creating a debug build to see where the problem is?

On our Mac we use the following:

Thank you both for your responses and for the build info. I have not tried to create a debug build as of yet, but that is a good idea.

I'd be happy to send along the color maps (see attached).

We have two custom maps and then also a flipped version of Jet256, such that zero is red. Though perhaps that would be better accomplished by inverting the map in wb and not allowing values of exactly zero in the metric file...
