Topics for 2025

SBOL Visual Paper

We target ACS SynBio's IWBDA 2024 Special Issue, where manuscripts are likely due to April or May. As data is in place, we aim for March to complete the manuscript.
Currently concerns regarding how to appropriately process data to mitigate figure reviewer bias by year wise analysis.

Outreach and community efforts

We created notebooks with examples, a new hands-on workshop and overhauled the SBOL Visual workshop in 2024.

Goal of community efforts and website: Everything you need for SBOL in Python in one place.

Development

Testing and developing the SBOL2 to SBOL3 converter is a major focus in 2025.
Update the SBOL Website to simplify the appearance and make it and SBOL more accessible for people interested in SBOL. Focus of reworking is on improving the flow of the website.

Building the example notebooks indicated the need for more functionality included in SBOL utilities. However, adding new functionality to SBOL utilities should be structured and preserve the code quality.

Increase development efforts by making the possibility to help developing SBOL more public through announcements by SBOL associated people.

Funding

By creating a regular funding in-flow, we could improve community engagement and allow SBOL associated people to travel to conferences to represent SBOL.
This could be implemented by reinitializing SBOL industrial with a two tier scheme.

Public Relations

Gear up public appearance on social networks like LinkedIn, Bluesky, and others, popular for academics and industry people.

The website shall include a Blogs section, to include Blog articles (of any length) to increase visibility and comprehensibility of SBOL.
