Few problems with presumably Wardrobe

Hello. I hope the description of problems I've encountered will be clear.

1. Items downloaded with Wardrobe do not appear in Refine app.
2. Refine show that default GTK theme and default cursors are enabled.
3. Reset buttons aren't active and therefore I can't restore default GTK theme and default cursors.

Problems started right after I pressed the Use button and selected an item in Wardrobe. All applications mentioned are in Flatpak versions.

I had the same problem, after some digging i fixed it by changing some dconf settings with "Dconf Editor".

/org/gnome/shell/extensions/user-theme/name remove key

Don't know why this is, maybe because of the non standard theme directories, but it's very annoying it's not fixed when uninstalling the app, there is also no button to remove the changes in the app.

Part of the reason why I haven't fixed this issue is that I seriously don't understand why it breaks Refine.

Wardrobe uses a dconf hack that is actually copy-pasta from Refine. I contacted Hari Rana (the developer of Refine) but neither of us can figure out what the issue is. I obviously don't want to pin the blame on Refine, the root cause is definitely Wardrobe. But when I was going through their source code, Refine validates the schemas like crazy, and I think somewhere in their validation process something goes wrong.

Wardrobe for its part doesn't really do anything special to the system settings, so the issue is in the dconf hack. My confusion is that this is a one way issue, even though both use the same hack. My best guess is that when Wardrobe makes changes to the desktop schemas, it makes a bunch of symlinks that either override or break Refine's.

You can also fix the issue by changing any of those schemas with gsettings in the terminal.

That being said, I've been working on a total rebuild of Wardrobe, and this is one of my priorities to include.

I think I figured out the reason.

The issue has nothing to do with dconf or any hacks. When Wardrobe installs a theme, it just symlinks it into the theme folder rather than move it there. This is done so all the themes can be easily contained in the 'wardrobe-installs' folder. The break is that Refine isn't able to read symlinks.

As a result, when you set a theme with Wardrobe, it can't find it when you open Refine.

I'm not sure who you want to blame for this, I will report it to Refine and see where it goes from there.
