Summary

The main RITlug chat (#rit-lug on Freenode, #general on Slack) needs a new Telegram bot API token managed by a current member of eboard

Background

I set up the #rit-lug TeleIRC bot on my personal Telegram account. Now I have registered too many Telegram bots to register more, and I need bots for other things. So, I would like an eboard member (who also might not be a TeleIRC developer) to register the Telegram bot for the bridge.

Details

An eboard member needs to register a new bot per TeleIRC instructions and then securely share them with a member of the TeleIRC team. The team can swap out the API tokens for a quick and seamless upgrade.

Outcome

Telegram bot API token is registered by an eboard member who has a lower risk of hitting the Telegram bot registration limit

The TeleIRC bots running in RITlug infrastructure are inventoried here. The secret tokens are stored in an encrypted Ansible Vault file that only RIT Tech Team members have access to (see here).

Username doesn't matter. Anything that is available and makes sense to a human. 🙂

I'm actually not even sure if anyone on current eboard uses Telegram. If not, I can take over any TeleIRC info for the RIT channels if this is still needed.
